A devastating collision involving a heavy motor vehicle and a Ford Fiesta has claimed the lives of six people (three women, two men, and a young child)
The fatal crash took place on the R42 between Heidelberg and Vereeniging Monday 14 July 2025 at approximately 16h00
Fire and Rescue, along with other emergency and support services, responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, all six occupants of the Ford Fiesta were declared deceased on-site.

According to initial reports, the vehicle was attempting to overtake the truck when the driver lost control, resulting in the fatal impact. The truck driver survived and is assisting police with the investigation. The bodies were taken to the Sebokeng Government Mortuary.
SAPS in Meyerton is investigating a case of culpable homicide.
SAPS urged motorists to obey overtaking rules and slow down and be cautious. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash‑cam footage is urged to contact Meyerton SAPS at 016 362 9012 or Crime Stop anonymously at 08600 10111.
